Description

This uncirculated brown 1,000 Kenyan shilling banknote is part of the series of banknotes that have the old portrait of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, the first president of Kenya. The note was withdrawn in 2019. Its dimensions are 150 mm by 80 mm. The reverse side depicts a herd of elephants crossing the savannah, with an egret bird in front and two Cape buffalos in the background. The obverse side contains Kenyattas portrait, Mount Kenya, and the national emblem. The security details include an elephant registration device, a windowed security thread with demetalized CBK1000, and a watermark of a lion head with electrotyped 1000 and Cornerstones.
