Octopot’s revolutionary hybrid design supplies plant roots with the oxygen they need without added equipment that requires electricity.  No dependence on electricity means lower energy bills and no plant loss from equipment failures or power outages. Octopots are designed with a large surface area of water in the Hydro Reservoir for efficient oxygen transfer.  Oxygen is attracted to water and naturally there is an atmospheric exchange at the surface area of water.  Octopot’s design creates the balance of water and oxygen necessary to maintain healthy conditions for plant roots to thrive. Dissolved oxygen present in the water of Octopot’s Hydro Reservoir reflects a balance between oxygen producing processes (e.g. photosynthesis) and oxygen consuming processes (e.g. aerobic respiration).  Octopot Grow Systems create an oxygen rich environment where dissolved oxygen is added to and removed from the system by atmospheric exchange (aeration and degassing).
Octopots oxygenate plant roots without added equipment or power. Air stones are unnecessary and can be detrimental if not used properly.  Using air stones or bubblers with Octopots will disrupt the surface area of water where oxygen transfers.  Disruption in oxygen can cause pH swings in the water.  Balanced pH is essential because it affects the availability of nutrients to plant roots.  Octopot only recommends air stones for suspending heavy organic teas in the Hydro Reservoir.  Set a timer for air stones with equal intervals on and off to allow the water to recover between cycles.  Octopot Grow Systems offer easy access for pH meters.
