    Pet Fence Staples SS-100
Cut Your Underground Dog Fence Installation Time in HALF
Pet Fence Staples SS-100 - Above Ground Installation
Contrary to popular belief, the containment boundary wire does not have to be buried underground for your in-ground fence to work!

There is no need to spend a weekend burying the wire for your in-ground fence underground, or paying someone hundreds of dollars to bury the boundary wire when it can be installed above ground in only a matter of an hour or two for a standard size yard. Each Box contains 100 Staples - enough to install 500 feet (152 meters) of wire. Our Pet Fence Staples can be used for any brand of underground pet fence.
Using our Pet Fence Staples you can "Staple" the wire to the ground. Within a matter of 7 to 14 days the root system of your lawn will grow over the wire and hide it completely from view, essentially "Burying" it into the lawn. Not only does this make the installation of your new pet containment systems hassle free, it also eliminates any potential loss of signal that may result from burying the boundary wire under several inches of dirt, not to mention the backaches and blisters it will save you.
    Features:

Avoid the Back Breaking Task of Burying Wire
Cut Your Underground Dog Fence Installation Time in HALF
    Staple Dimensions: 6" long x 1" wide (2.54cm x 15cm)
    Heavy-Duty 11-gauge Steel (0.120" diameter — 3mm)
    Quantity: 100 Staples
Using Dog Fence Staples is Quick & Easy
Using Dog Fence Staples is Quick & Easy
    Step 1:
Since you are going to install the wire above ground, prepare the area by mowing the grass as low as possible to the dirt without destroying the root system. You want the wire to lay directly on the ground allowing the new grass root shoots to grow over the wire. The grass will grow over the wire within 7 to 14 days. Inspect the wire after the grass has grown to ensure that no grass roots have pushed up the wire. If you see the wire, separate the grass or trim low and "staple" down in that area. You can move where you installed the wire after 30 days.
    Step 2:
    Mount the Transmitter
Run your twisted wire from your transmitter out to the beginning of your boundary.
Now "Staple" the twisted wire to the ground by hammering in a wire "Staple" every 5 to 6 feet (1.5 - 1.8 meters).
Now stop and look at the wire. Is it completely flush to the ground all the way to the start of the boundary? If not, go and "Staple" any raised areas before proceeding to the next step. The wire MUST completely TOUCH the ground.
    Step 3:
Next, place a "Staple" where the twisted wire begins and to where the boundary ends (where the boundaries meet). If you have a splice in this area, please dig a small hole about 2 inches deep and bury the splice. Then place a "Staple" in the front of and behind the splice to relieve any pressure on the splice.
Now walk the wire to the first corner of your boundary and "Staple" it to the ground. Repeat this step for all four corners of your boundary.
Next go back just as you did with your twisted wire and "Staple" any raised areas down until they are completely flush with (touching) the ground.
    It is that simple.
You have no need to worry about people tripping over the wire because it is completely flush to the ground and will be completely hidden within 7 to 10 days. You also do not need to worry about your lawnmower cutting the wire as the blades will never get anywhere near the wire. Nobody cuts their lawns to shorter than an inch, with the vast majority of people keeping the blades of their lawnmower at 2" to 3" (5-7.6cm) above the ground, so if the wire is flush to the ground it cannot be cut. Make sure that when you place the wire on the ground you place it between the grass blades.
These instructions will not be included with your pet fence or staples. You should print this page if you are going to use the Above Ground Installation method.
There are really only a couple of instances where burying the wire is preferable:
If you are putting a fence into a pasture area where livestock such as horses or cattle will frequent, then you will want to bury the wire as their hooves will create breaks. In this case you will want the wire at least 8 to 10 inches (20-25cm) underground.
If you frequently have your yard aerated you will want the wire at least 5 to 6 inches (13-15cm) under the ground. Now if you do an above ground installation you can simply avoid the exterior boundaries when performing the aeration.
100 staples will "staple" about 500 feet of wire. In some cases, you may have to use more staples if the ground has high and low spots, or if there will be a lot of turns because of some custom landscapes.
