    From the Introduction:
"Cherry Vanilla, also known as Kathy Dorritie, became David Bowie's Press agent from 1973 through 1975. These were the years when Bowie broke into the American market with hits such as Pinups, Diamond Dogs, and Young Americans, supported by endless touring that soon made him into a megastar.
It was during this crucial period, in May 1973, that the English magazine, Mirabel, suggested that Bowie write a weekly column for the benefit of his British fans, in which he described his every day activities, both work and personal.
Due to his busy schedule, Bowie gave the job to Cherry Vanilla who happily took on the personality of David Bowie and his alter ego Ziggy Stardust, as he wanted them to be portrayed. She did a good and accurate job (so much so that Bowie found nothing to add) while incorporating a good dose of malice. How many discrete acts of treachery remain to be revealed! The result is a little masterpiece of sly frivolity, a spirited story, with a certain unrealism that after all suits the subjects treated particularly well. Vanilla was able to give the readership just what they wanted, and now throws the candid light of day on a weird fairytale about the ever more accelerated tribulations of the artist. In 1998, David Bowie actually gave his permission for her to circulate the story of her ghost authorship in the Internet, an incidental reminder of how the diary proves her worth as a press agent now that Bowie is the subject of a number of very well documented biographies, Ziggys papers constitutes a delightful counterpoint to these weighty tomes with the freshness of the first person accounts, fact with a large measure of fiction which convey so well in condensed form the atmosphere of a certain year in the 70s and the pioneering spirit that presided over the fabrication of myths."
